Playstation Vita Features
Awesome Features:
#1: Cross-platform Multiplayer With PlayStation 3
Players will be able to interact with each other on totally different consoles. Each person will need a copy of the game, but being able to play against or with somebody using a Play Station 3 from your PS Vita will be a huge feature. Forget about split-screen or using 2 TVs and Consoles non-sense. Now you can play while you are on the go with others who are sitting at home with their PS3s!
#2: Augmented Reality
Little Deviants is a Playstation Vita game that has an AR mode that has the player blasting at on-screen characters. It’s cute and the Augmented Reality overlay is rapid and responsive. This could be the next big segment in mobile gaming. Sony is certainly making it a priority feature for the Vita.
#3: Cross-platform Game Resume On PS3
Cross-Platform again?! No, this is definitely not the same as number 1 in our list. This is where you could be playing a game such as Ruin on Playstation 3 or PS Vita, make a save, and then resume playing the game on the other console. How cool is that?
Ruin, along with other games, will store your saved games on the “Cloud”. You can access these saves anywhere that has an internet connect. This is just the beginning of taking advantage of cloud services in new ways. Expect Sony to innovate and improve on this for the PS Vita
#4: Beautiful Looking Graphics and Games
The cross-platform games like Ruin and WipeOut 2048 look even sharper on the PS Vita than on an HDTV, but that’s to be expected with a smaller, crisp screen. One of the reps showing off Little Big Planet on the Playstation Vita told us Sony played around with different screen sizes, and eventually landed on the size because it just felt the best — the Vita probably could have been made smaller.
#5: Custom Control Schemes
Calling the PS Vita featured-packed is an understatement. In fact, it’s packed with so many controls from the traditional buttons and dual analogs to the touchscreen and rear touchpad to the gyroscope and accelerometer and AR cameras, it’s almost too feature-rich. That’s a lot to keep track of.
At times we weren’t sure when we needed to use the touchscreen, the touchpad or just the regular buttons. In LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita, there are little cues that tell you when to use the touchscreen and when to tilt the device, but we still felt confused at times. (Of course, we only had a short amount of time to play it.)
